What kind of ink does a Canon mx490 use?
The Canon PIXMA MX490 printer uses Canon PG-245 black and CL-246 tricolor ink cartridges. Both cartridges come in XL or high yield sizes: PG-245XL and CL-246XL.How do I change the ink in my Canon mx490?
1. Make sure the power is on.2. Open the front cover, the paper output tray will open in the process.
3. Open the second door to access the ink cartridges.
4. To remove the empty cartridge, push down on the cartridge to release it from its position.
5. Gently lift the empty cartridge from the slot and set aside for recycling.
6. Remove packaging from the new ink cartridge. Pull off protective tape gently. Give the cartridge a shake before installing.
7. Slide new ink cartridge at a slant into the slot vacated by old cartridge.
8. Push the cartridge forward gently until you hear a click.
9. Close the ink cartridge access door. Wait for the cartridge tray to reposition.
10. You're now ready to print!
